Antequera named "Ancient town" by the Romans was often called the crossroads of Andalucia. A busy trading centre, particularly in Renaissance times, merchants who settled in the town built themselves fine mansions and contributed to the construction of many elaborate churches. If you climb up to the castle at the top of the town, you may look down on a vista of pretty rooftops and count the towers of some 19 churches.
A really vibrant town and a good place for shopping, sightseeing, and with most workshops there will be an opportunity to sample local cuisine, and the diversity of the many tapas bars here.
Plenty of places to sketch here, buildings, people, landscapes - lots of real Spanish character to capture on paper, canvas and film.
